I’d say she isn’t more submissive and still has the dominant personality. What she is tho is more mature and in control of her feelings and emotions. As such she restrains herself more.
That and the writers had to show that buffy was the one in ultimate control leading to the final battle.

After her reformation she plays a more team oriented role, but Buffy goes off the deep end a bit in the face of the Big evils primordial vamps uberness. The potentials all side with Faith for awhile til just before the final battle when Buffy comes up with “The Plan”
